Living On Autopilot

I posted this poll on my Instagram story last week and was not surprised to see 93% of you are living on autopilot.

The pandemic has put us all in a position where we are caught between two lives: one that has ended and the future one we haven’t created yet.

When you’re stuck between your old life and your new one, it’s easy to tune out, to become a passenger, to sleep walk and feel like life is just passing you by as you go through the motions.

The first step to getting out of autopilot mode is to recognize that you’re in it. Become aware that you’re merely just a passenger in your life and that someone or something (guilt, fear, shame, or obligation) is the one driving.

The next step is visualizing yourself getting out of the passenger seat and taking the wheel because you can become the driver any time you decide to.

I’d like you to do that right now. Close your eyes and imagine that you’re at a fork in the road. One fork takes you down the path that you’re already on and the other fork takes you across a large suspension bridge. You can’t see all the way to the other side of the bridge but something inside you tells you it’s where you’re meant to go.
